Erika G.'s Story
Erika G. Kynor of Newburyport died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on April 30, 2017, after a one-and-a-half-year battle against chondrosarcoma cancer. She was born in Munich, Germany in 1941. She met her husband, Robert, of 52 years in 1954. They moved to Japan, where they got married, and then returned to the U.S. After living in Boston, they moved to Newburyport, where they have lived for 46 years. Erika earned her Associate Degree in Business Administration and worked part-time while raising two children. She enjoyed painting, reading, swimming in the ocean on the Cape in the late afternoon, taking walks in the mountains, riding her bike, listening to music, and especially spending time with her family and her grandson, Logan. She and her husband were world travelers and enjoyed exploring new places every year.
She is survived by her husband, Robert; daughter, Pamela Way and her husband, Tyler of Newburyport; son, Jeffrey Kynor and his wife, Erin of Naperville, Ill.; brother, Siegfried and his daughter, Angela of Munich, Germany; and grandson, Logan Way. We would like to thank the staff of Mass General Hospital and Care Dimensions Hospice for their exceptional care of Erika. The family will be having a private memorial service.
