Erich Rudy Griebling, 73, passed away on Thursday, January 12th, 2017 at home in Seabrook, N.H.
Erich was born May 30, 1943, in Columbus, Ohio to Helen (Rudy) and Erich T. Griebling. The Griebling family lived in Kent, Ohio. He graduated from Kent State High School in 1961 and earned his degree in architecture from Miami University, Ohio in 1967. He worked and lived with his own family in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Lexington, Mass., Birmingham, Ala., and Seattle. For the last three decades he was a fixture of the Newburyport community.
Forever an academic, he was a spirited and engaged conversationalist, and an artist at heart. He loved Newburyport, Plum Island (walking the beach), boats and being on the water, Rudy Island, his dogs and Manhattans. He was loved by his family, friends, and adored by his grandchildren.
Erich is survived by his son, Erich Theodore Griebling (Ted) of Seattle; his daughters, Sarah G. Hall of Seattle and Claire Malone Cuddy (Molly) of Newburyport; his sister Alice G. Jones of Lawrenceville, N.J.; seven grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his sister, Frances (Griebling) Chastain Shanor of Northampton.
Visitation for all friends and family will be held 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, 20th at the Twomey-Leblanc, & Conte Funeral home, Newburyport.
