Eleanor R. (Andrews)'s Story
Eleanor R. (Andrews) Stack, age 91, of Amesbury, passed away Thursday afternoon, March 30, 2017 at Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill surrounded by the love of her family after a brief decline in health. She was predeceased by her husband Robert E. Stack, Jr. in 1998. They were happily married for 52 years.
Born in Amesbury on May 17, 1925 to the late Percival L. and Clara I. (Lord) Andrews, she was also predeceased by her two sisters, Barbara Thurlow and Jean Southard. She was a 1943 graduate of Amesbury High School.
She was the dedicated mother of Linda J. Lee and her husband Joseph of Mount Juliet, Tennessee, William L. Stack and his wife Cheryl of Amesbury and Dean A. Stack and his wife Susan of Weare, N.H. She was the devoted grandmother of Rhine (Robby) Jervis of North Carolina, Kristen Jervis and Dimesa (Lee) Lesnak of Tennessee, Lauren (Stack) Turpak of Connecticut, Ryan Stack of Amesbury and Matthew Stack of Maine. She also held a special spot in her heart for her seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She left them all with precious memories that can never be taken away.
Eleanor retired after many years holding numerous positions at The Provident Bank in downtown Amesbury. Other than the love and commitment she had for her children she enjoyed knitting, needlepoint and playing cards. Her entire life consisted of a deeply held fondness for and never strayed far from the Merrimack River where her father was a boat builder.
The family would like to acknowledge the Elizabeth Calsey House on Lions Mouth Road in Amesbury for their caring and professionalism over the past two years and also the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill for their compassion and understanding in her last few days. They can never be thanked enough, but they both should know they are greatly appreciated.
In honoring Eleanor’s final wishes, there will be no calling hours. The graveside service and burial will be private for the family at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 2 Hillside Avenue, Amesbury.
