Merrimac - Eleanor Jane (Ramsdell) Yarranton, age 73, of Merrimac, died early Monday morning, September 2, 2019, at High Pointe House in Haverhill, with her loving family by her side. She was the devoted wife of twenty-eight years to Arthur Yarranton.
Born in York, Maine, January 10, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Anna May (Bridges) Ramsdell. For many years, Eleanor had worked as a technical assistant at a semi-conductor research lab.
Known by many as " Bobbie", she was actively involved at St. James Episcopal Church in Amesbury where she served as a member of the Altar Guild as well as Clerk of the Vestry.
Everyone who knew Bobbie would agree that she was a "people person". With her charming personality and warm smile, she would turn strangers into friends in just one meeting. With her lifelong interest in reading, music, sailing, arts and crafts, she was quite the conversationalist.
She is survived by a son, John Roach of Worcester; two daughters, Tanya Kelly and husband John of Staten Island, NY and Karen Rucci and husband Mike of Worcester, MA; two brothers, Andrew Ramsdell, Jr. of FL, and Frank Ramsdell of ME; two sisters, Barbara Harper of Ohio, and Dorothy Chasse of Fla.; grandchildren, Tianna, Angeliqua, Jonathan, Jason, Joshua, Molly, Jessica, and Jake; five great-grandchildren, along with several generations of nieces and nephews, extended family and numerous dear friends. She was predeceased by a daughter, Kimberly Roach and a brother, Eddie Ramsdell.
"Auntie Bobbie" is survived by two stepsons, Nigel Yarranton and Neal Yarranton; a stepdaughter, Judith Y. Rossebo; step granddaughter, Davis Yarranton and step grandson, William Yarranton; step granddaughter, Henriette Y. Rossebo and step grandson, Christopher Y. Rossebo.
A Celebration of Life will be held at St. James Episcopal Church, 120 Main Street, Amesbury, on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider making a donation in her honor to the Jeanne Geiger Crisis Center or Our Neighbors Table. Arrangements are by Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 2 Hillside Avenue, Amesbury.

To my old friend Bobbie whom I first meet in my formative years, I will miss your smile and your personal warmth. To her husband Arthur, and her greater family, Lynda and I send our sincere sympathy for your loss. Bobbie will always be a shinning star in the lives she touched. May God bless her and keep her forever.

I met Eleanor at a Christmas Party and immediately knew we'd be friends. She liked my earrings so I got a pair just like them as a gift for Eleanor. We met again at Bible Study and her gratefulness for those earrings overwhelmed my heart with joy. She was a very special lady, taking time to attend my Baptism at St. James in Groveland. I will never forget Eleanor, she will always be in my heart. Rest in peace, my friend.
