Edith A. Ryan died peacefully on Sunday morning at Seaview Retreat.
She was the beloved wife of the late Robert W. Ryan, with whom she shared over 46 years of marriage. Born Edith Amelia Oberhofer, she was was the daughter of Arthur and Anna Oberhofer and one of seven children.
Edith was the proud mother of two sons, the late Robert Ryan of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisc., and Richard Ryan of Amesbury, Mass.
Well into her 90s Edith enjoyed quilting, cross stitching and dinner parties with family and friends. She was always good for sharing a story or two about her early years growing up outside of New York.
Edie will be missed by her family, Rich and Margot of Amesbury and Nita Ryan of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisc.; and her five grandchildren, Jack and Kim Ryan of Palm City, Fla., Meaghan and Christian Slack of San Francisco, Calif., Kaitlyn Ryan and her fiancee, Scott Shechtman of New York City, Matthew Ryan of Bangalore, India and Patrick Ryan of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisc. She is also survived by her brother, Vincent Oberhofer of Whispering Pines, N.C.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 11 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church in Newburyport.
Edie will join her husband for burial at Arlington National cemetery in Arlington, Va., sometime in the spring.
