Dorothy M. (O'Leary)'s Story

Mrs. Dorothy M. (O'Leary) Crawford, 83, of Danvers, beloved wife of the late James J. Crawford, died Friday, May 5, 2017, at Hathorne Hill surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Melrose, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Alice (Maguire) O'Leary. She was raised and educated in Melrose and was a graduate of Melrose High School, before moving to Danvers where she raised her family.
Dorothy had been employed at E.G. & G. in Salem as a Quality Assurance Supervisor, retiring in 1993 after 26 years of dedicated service.
A loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, family was paramount. Dottie loved to provide a warm and loving home for her family where she enjoyed hosting family holidays and pool parties. She never missed a grandchild's event and reserved Wednesday afternoons for hanging out with the "club girls." They could often be found picnicking at Salem Willows. There are no words to describe the beauty, grace and selflessness of Dottie. Her love and generosity were immeasurable and will be deeply missed.
An avid traveler, she enjoyed many trips to Aruba, her favorite place in the world, with her husband, James. In recent years following the death of her husband, she enjoyed frequent visits to Florida and Lake Winnipesaukee with her companion, Joseph. A great sports fan, Dottie was a Patriots season ticket holder and never missed a game.
Dottie is survived by children, Michael Crawford and his wife, Maureen of Melrose, James Crawford and his wife, Catherine of York, Maine and Sharon MacCarthy of Salisbury; her grandchildren, Michael Crawford, Shaun Crawford, Melanie Crawford, Jamie Crawford, Conor Crawford, Liam Crawford, Ryan MacCarthy and Kerin MacCarthy; great-grandchildren, Kyle, Cameron, Catherine and Quinn Crawford; her companion, Joseph Rossino; brother-in-law, David Crawford; and nephews, Brian and David Crawford and several grandnephews. She was also the mother-in-law of the late Donald MacCarthy.
Her funeral will be held from the Peterson O'Donnell Funeral Home, 167 Maple St. (Route 62), Danvers on Saturday, May 13 at 8:15 a.m., followed by her funeral Mass in St. Richard's Church, Forest Street, Danvers at 9 a.m. Relatives and friends invited. Burial in Annunciation Cemetery. Visiting hours Friday, May 12 from 4 to 7 p.m. Expressions of sympathy may be made in Dottie's memory to Dana Farber Cancer Institute, P.O.
