Dorothy's Story

GLOUCESTER, MA - Mrs. Dorothy P. (Perry) Kinghorn, 88 years old, of Gloucester, passed away on Friday evening, December 15, 2017, at Seacoast Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following an eight-year battle with dementia. She was the loving wife to Bradley F. Kinghorn with whom she shared 67 years of marriage.
Dolly was born August 26, 1929, in Gloucester, Mass. She was the daughter of the late Marietta (Rishel) (Carrie) Perry and Albert Newbold Perry.
She was a lifelong resident of Gloucester and a graduate of Gloucester High School, Class of 1947.
Dolly worked for many years as an administrative assistant at the Gloucester Board of Health until her retirement.
She belonged to the Gloucester Women's Club, the Gloucester United Methodist Women's Evening Circle and a longtime member of Seashore Rebekah Lodge.
In addition to her loving husband, Bradley Frost Kinghorn, Dorothy is survived by her two daughters, Lynne K. Erskine of Amesbury and Dawn L. Ellis and her husband, Mark of Red Lion, Pa. Dolly leaves four cherished grandchildren, Courtney Erskine Streeter, Whitney Erskine, Jillian and Jesse Ellis. She is also survived by her two precious great-grandchildren, Savannah Rose Streeter and Jaidyn Ellis, as well as any nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her brothers, Robert and Richard Perry; and her sisters, Evelyn Perry and Berta Hiller.
The family would like to thank the kind and wonderful staff at Seacoast Nursing and Rehabilitation Center during Dolly's seven-month stay.
In honoring with Dorothy's wishes, there will be no visiting hours and funeral services will be help privately.
