Donald Charles's Story
Donald Charles Champoux, 64, longtime Newburyport resident, died at Anna Jaques Hospital after being struck by a car on Friday evening, November 24, 2017.
Born in Amesbury, July 8, 1953, he was the son of Isabelle (Cooper) Champoux of Salisbury and the late Donald A. Champoux, who died November 7, 2009. Donald was a graduate of Newburyport High School and went on to to graduate from Westfield State University receiving a degree in computer programming.
A lover of music, the outdoors, pets and kids, Don’s adventurous spirit lead him to always traveling the back roads of New England. After living in Western Mass with his former wife Edna Champoux, Don returned to his roots where he worked in the area doing various jobs from restaurant, warehouse and more recently retail. Latterly using his degree and passion for people, computers and problem solving, he ran his own consulting business, as well as serving the greater Newburyport area working with Meals on Wheels for the better part of the last decade.
In addition to his mother, Isabelle, he is survived by his son, Chad D. Champoux of Greenfield; his brother, Arthur J. Champoux and wife, Beverly of Dover, N.H.; his aunt, Mary Webber, and husband, Kenneth of Newburyport, along with several nephews, cousins and dear friends.
The Family will be having a private celebration of life to be held at a later date with no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Donald’s name to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123 (1-800-227-2345). Arrangements are by Elliott, Woodworth & Rogers Family Funeral Home, 35 Green Street, Newburyport.
