David S.'s Story
David S. Nock, 79, longtime Amesbury resident, passed quietly at Avita at Newburyport, early Wednesday morning, May 24, 2017. He was the beloved husband of 35 years to Jane M. (Simon) Nock.
Son of the late Rupert A. and Ruth E. (Bingham) Nock, he was born in Newburyport on May 2, 1938 and was a graduate of Newburyport High School, Class of 1956, then went on to receive a bachelor’s degree from Norwich University in Vermont.
David had served as a police officer with the Amesbury Police Department for many years. In 1960, he started the first gym in the area, Hard Nock’s Gym, which he ran until the onset of his declining health several years ago, and which is now being continued by his loving wife. He truly enjoyed the work he did, and the many lasting friendships that were made during his years at the gym.
In addition to his wife, Jane of Amesbury, he is also survived by his son, Erik Nock of Salisbury; his granddaughter, Cheyenne Nock of Salisbury; his niece and nephew; extended family members; and countless dear friends. His life’s memories will continue to live in their hearts.
At his request, there will be no services. He wants no rites filled with gloom, just remembrances of a vibrant life, filled with love, respect and loyalty. In his honor, pay it forward, do a good deed, always do the best that you can do and never stop trying. Arrangements are by Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 2 Hillside Ave., Amesbury.
