AMESBURY - Darryl V. Chiappini, 62, of Colchester Street, Amesbury, and formerly of Ipswich, died Sunday, January 14, 2018, in the Massachusetts General Hospital following his long illness.
Born in Saugus, May 1, 1955, son of the late David J. and Joanne J. (O'Neil) Chiappini, Darryl was raised in Ipswich and was a 1973 graduate of Ipswich High School where he played hockey as team captain. As a youth he served as an altar boy at the former St. Josephs Church in Ipswich.
For many years he was employed in sales at Flynn Tan Leathers in Peabody and most recently and for many years at Ebinger Brothers Leathers in Ipswich.
Darryl was an avid Patriots fan. Later in life he also enjoyed hiking, camping, reading, adventure and home gardening.
Darryl is survived by his beloved partner, Beth Larocque of Amesbury; two sons, J.B. Chiappini and his wife, Julie of South Carolina, and Robert D. Chiappini of Hampton, NH, three daughters, Rhiannon S. Dunne and her husband, Ryan of Quincy, Michelle Daley of Amesbury, and Heidi Prieur and her husband, Dustin of Hamilton, two grandchildren, Jacob and Bryson Chiappini, both of South Carolina, a brother, Edward Duke Chiappini and his wife Jeannine of Hanover, two sisters, Darlene St.Laurent of NH and Dina Chiappini of Amesbury, his former wife, Kelley Bergeron of Hampton, NH, and his loyal feline, Turnip.
His funeral will be held 9 am, Friday January 19, from the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home, 6 High St., Ipswich, followed by the celebration of a 10 am Funeral Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Hope Church, 1 Pineswamp Road, Ipswich. Family and friends are respectfully welcomed. Visiting hours are 4 to 7 pm, Thursday. Interment will be private.
