Daniel S.'s Story
Daniel S. Lynch, 70, passed away peacefully Tuesday, December 27, 2016, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Mr. Lynch was born in Newburyport, Mass., on February 7, 1946, to the late John and Helen (Tremblay) Lynch. He was a graduate of Newburyport High School and a proud member of the USMC, serving in the Vietnam War, where he repaired and manned helicopters used for rescue missions.
After his service in the Marine Corps, he returned to Newburyport where he worked as an operator in the Water Department. He then worked for Clark Engineering in Salisbury, but returned to Newburyport several years later as the Director of Public Works. Before retiring, he served several years as Director of the Wenham Department of Public Works.
Upon retirement, Mr. Lynch and his wife moved to Aiken, S.C., where they built their dream home and enjoyed traveling, playing golf, and relaxing with family and friends. Mr. Lynch also cherished time spent with his family at their vacation home in the White Mountains of New Hampshire.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Donna (Schrempf) Lynch; his daughter, Kelley J. Lesko and her husband, Terry Lesko of South Windsor, Conn.; his son, Daniel J. Lynch and his wife, Elisa Lynch of Amesbury, Mass.; his sister, Patricia Palis of Newburyport; his brother, John “Jackie” Lynch; and his grandchildren, Ryan and Hannah Lesko. Mr. Lynch was predeceased by his sister, Janet (Lynch) Kent.
Family and friends may call on Monday, January 2, 2017, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Twomey, LeBlanc & Conte Funeral Home, 193 High Street, Newburyport. Parking available behind the funeral home. His funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Wounded Warrior Project or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
