Newburyport, MA - Carlo Rubino passed away on July 15, 2019, at Avita of Newburyport after a lengthy battle with dementia. Carlo was born on May 2, 1930, in Haverhill, Mass., the son of Edward M. Rubino and Tillie (Marcinkonis) Rubino.
He was raised in Amesbury, Mass., attending St. Joseph School, and Amesbury High School class of 1949 where he played and captained the high school basketball team. After high school, he enlisted in the Air Force where he was stationed in Okinawa during the Korean War from 1951 to 1955. After the service, he became an apprentice machinist and worked up in different positions at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard until retirement in 1985. Carlo married his high school sweetheart, Juliette Bergeron on Nov. 12, 1955. They enjoyed over 50 years of marriage when Juliette passed away in 2012.
He is survived by his children, daughter Carla Rubino Webb and her husband David; his son, friend and golf buddy Michael and his wife Dale; and granddaughter for whom he was forever proud, Kali Webb, D.O., and several nieces and nephews. Carlo was an avid golfer being a member of Amesbury Country Club for over 40 years, getting a hole-in-one to top it off. He was also a member of the Polish Club and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. During his retirement, Carlo enjoyed walking, talking, and traveling with the love of his life, Juliette. He was a big New England sports fan. He enjoyed working on his house, yard, and garden. He is predeceased by his brother Edward.
