Beatrice Y.'s Story
AMESBURY, MA - Beatrice Y. (Guilmette) McConnell, age 89, longtime Amesbury resident, passed peacefully at her home with her loving family by her side.
Born in Dover, New Hampshire, on November 17, 1928, she was one of five children of the late Alfred J. and Yvonne (Boise) Guilmette, and graduated from Dover High School, in Dover N.H.
Beatrice was a tax examiner, having worked for the Internal Revenue Service until her retirement.
She was an avid card player, loved trips to Florida, and the ocean, and enjoyed Foxwoods. Most of all, Beatrice loved her family. She raised five children, and loved being involved in the lives of her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Whenever you needed her, Beatrice was always there with a helping hand.
The gift of her life will continue to be treasured and remembered by her husband, James F. McConnell of Amesbury, Mass.; children, and their spouses, Julie A. Hart and Edward of Merrimac, Mass., Lynn E. Shaw and Keith of Ayer, Mass., Sharon L Durkin and Michael of York, Maine, Robert F. McConnell and Sue of East Kingston, N.H.; daughter-in-law, Fran McConnell of Amesbury Mass., and grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, James A. McConnell; two brothers, Fr. Leo Guilmette, OMI, and Raymond Guilmette; and two sisters, Anita McClain and Leona Guilmette.
Visitation will be held at the Highland Chapel of Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 2 Hillside Avenue, Amesbury, on Wednesday, February 28, 2018, from 9 to 10:30 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at the Holy Family Parish, 2 School Street, Amesbury, followed by burial in St. Charles Cemetery in Dover, N.H. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Merrimack Valley Hospice, 360 Merrimack St., Building 9, Lawrence, MA 01843.
