AMESBURY - Alan C. Titcomb passed away on December 27, 2017, surrounded by his family at The Kaplan House, in Danvers, after a short battle with Leukemia.
Alan was born in Amesbury on June 20, 1950 to Clifford W. Titcomb and Thelma (Worthen) Titcomb. He grew up in Amesbury and graduated from Haverhill Trade with high honors in 1969. Alan is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years Dorothy (Ryan) Titcomb.
Alan was a "Jack of all Trades" as owner of Beacon Auto in Amesbury - where he ran a successful automotive repair business for 32 years. Alan's hobby was stock car racing, where he was the owner of the #25 Late Model and with the help of crew and friends of the Eclipse Racing team they won 6 championships which took them to Nashville for 2 - NASCAR racing banquets. He also drove the #05 Ice Racer where he himself won a championship. Alan was always willing to lend a helping hand or a race part to any racer at the track who was in need. He was a big guy with an easy smile and a big HEART who loved his family, his neighborhood and loved to travel. He gave to those who were in need and to the Amesbury community. He also loved "all animals" especially "Molly the Cat"
Alan leaves behind three sons: Alan Titcomb, Jr. - his wife, Shannon, David Fowler - his wife, Kyristal and Christopher Titcomb - his wife, Tyra. Alan was also known as "Grumpy or Bumpa" to his four grandchildren whom he adored: Ashley Barnes, Shane Fowler, Cali Titcomb and Ryan Titcomb. Alan is also survived by his sister Linda Somers and brother, Steven Titcomb, both of Amesbury, along with many nieces and nephews.
Alan was loved by many for his quick wit, easy smile and sense of humor - he will be sorely missed.
Relatives and friends may call Wednesday, January 3, 2018 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the E.V. Jutras and Sons Funeral Home, 118 Friend Street, Amesbury, MA 01913. A funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Alan, to Our Neighbors table in Amesbury.
